For this inspired evening, director Wale Idris Ajibade placed Aaron front and center, as he rocked the audience with a thoroughly modern reboot of Carl Douglas’ iconic 1970s funk hit, Kung Fu Fighting. As Aaron moved sleekly around the rotunda, his ensemble outfit also paid homage to the movie star who brought kung fu into the American lexicon, including custom, handcrafted gold jewelry by Barbara Newton of Midtown’s Morra Designs, and stylish, burgundy Sam, set off with Morra’s incredible choker pendant and triple-tree earring. Coiffure and makeup expert Mark De Alwis made Aaron shine in the spotlight, while Billy Hess captured Aaron’s performance on video.
